Technology Online Work Order Directions and Help

Information Notes (Directions are below)
  • Only the tech coordinator and school secretary can submit these online work orders. If your administrator decides to delegate this responsibility to someone other than the two mentioned above, contact me to make that change
  • The directions below are specifically for work orders submitted online for computers
  • From this time forward (February 22, 2005), there should be no more FAX'ed-in work orders
  • To access the online work order system, the user will need to have registered to use the MCSD EmployeeNet. If you have not done so, but intend to do so soon, it is recommended that you choose the user id and password that corresponds with your MCSD email user id and password. to register to use the MCSD EmployeeNet, go to www.mcsdga.net and click on the red Employee Login button. Click on the red EmployeeNet button in the next window. Click on the "New users click here to register" button in the next window and follow the directions to register.
  • The EmployeeNet, and thus the Online Work Order System, can only be access through the WAN, so work orders can only be submitted from school
  • Improvements to the online work order system will be ongoing , so if you have recommendations for changes, contact me
Directions for filling out and Online Work Order (for technology / computers)
  1. Go to www.mcsdga.net and log into the EmployeeNet (Or you may type admin. mcsdga.net into your browser address box).
  2. In the window that opens, click on the "DOTS Work Order System" link that appears in the top left-hand corner beneath the heading "Technology Services Work Orders"
  3. Click on the link that reads "Submit a new work order"
  4. The work order form appears in the window that opens
  5. Fill in each section of the form. A few clarifying notes are bulleted below, and a picture of this form with clarifying notes inside each box, is linked here and below
    • School Contact is usually the person submitting the online work order; the tech coordinator or secretary
    • The Client Name is the teacher or owner of the computer
    • In the Manufacturer box, Apple computers will be entered as Other
    • In the Service Request Description box, please precede stating the problem with the name of the manufacturer, such as Virtucom, MTC, IBM, or Dell. Then state the problem
    • In the Additional Comments box type in whatever actions have already been done to attempt repair; also type in any error message that appears on the computer screen
  6. Click on the "Submit Request" button at the bottom of the work order page
  7. If you have successfully submitted the work order, you should see a green note at the top of the page saying that the work order has been submitted, AND you should also receive an email saying that the work order has been submitted
  8. Log out of the EmployeeNet system when you have finished submitting the work order
  9. You can check the status of a work order at any time by accessing admin.mcsdga.net  >  login to intranet > click on DOTS Work Order System > work order by technician OR > work order by location.  When the work order is closed, you will receive an email that tells you it is closed. There will be remarks on the work order to let you know what was done.
