Taking Attendance Using ClassXP
- Log in to Novel as usual (you cannot use
workstation only because ClassXP needs network resources to function
properly)
- Double click on the ClassXP icon to launch the
program
- Enter your ClassXP User ID and Password and then
click Login (We will discuss username and password in the training
session.)
- Double click on the top Homeroom section (You
should then see a window open that contains your student names; it looks
much like a seating chart)
- Find the Class menu at the top of the page,
click on it and choose Take Attendance from the dropdown menu
- Click on the name of a student who is absent; a
UNX will appear to indicate and Unexcused Absence
- Click again, (two times) to indicate a Tardy
- Should you make a mistake, click again several
time until the code in the student's square disappears
- When you have finished taking roll for all of
your students, find the dialogue rectangle along the top of the window
that reads Take Attendance - Click here when finished
- You are DONE! You may now exit the program
- Should a student arrive a few minutes late, you
can go through the same process listed above and change his absence to a
tardy. However, changes to the student attendance record the following day
must be made by personnel in the office
- Teachers only have access to the current day for
attendance. Student notes and changes that must be made when absences are
excused must be made by office personnel that have access to
previous dates in Class XP; therefore notes explaining absences should be
sent to the office

you need a visual demonstration of the steps above, you can go to the website
