Converting Your AppleWorks Documents
So they will open on
your new Windows computer
- Insert
either a Windows diskette or a Flash drive into your Mac (You may need to
borrow an external disk drive from your media specialist of tech
coordinator)
- Use
AppleWorks to open the document (file) on your Apple (Mac)
- Choose
Save As from the File menu
- Find
the File Format dropdown menu toward the bottom of the Save window (in
AppleWorks 5 this dropdown is beneath the Save As phrase toward the bottom
of the Save window)
- Change
the file format to RTF
- Leave
name of your document the same, but add a .rtf to the end: example: Parent
Letter.rtf
- Choose
to save the document (file) to the diskette or flash drive and click Save
- Remove
the diskette or flash drive from your Mac and insert it into your Windows
computer
- Access
(Open) the diskette or flash and select all of the documents
- Copy
them (using the Edit menu Copy command)
- Paste
them into My Documents on your Windows computer
