Converting Your AppleWorks Documents

So they will open on your new Windows computer

 

  1. Insert either a Windows diskette or a Flash drive into your Mac (You may need to borrow an external disk drive from your media specialist of tech coordinator)
  2. Use AppleWorks to open the document (file) on your Apple (Mac)
  3. Choose Save As from the File menu
  4. Find the File Format dropdown menu toward the bottom of the Save window (in AppleWorks 5 this dropdown is beneath the Save As phrase toward the bottom of the Save window)
  5. Change the file format to RTF
  6. Leave name of your document the same, but add a .rtf to the end: example: Parent Letter.rtf
  7. Choose to save the document (file) to the diskette or flash drive and click Save
  8. Remove the diskette or flash drive from your Mac and insert it into your Windows computer
  9. Access (Open) the diskette or flash and select all of the documents
  10. Copy them (using the Edit menu Copy command)
  11. Paste them into My Documents on your Windows computer
