  • Use select tool (arrow) to select the text; it becomes a graphic image
  • Use the dropdown menu that appears to 'Recognize' the appropriate word
    • It recognizes printing more accurately than cursive
    • You can choose language other than English by using the 'Recognize As' option

Downloading and installing Notebook 10 software

SmartBoard Updates:
I have found the August 2009 SmartBoard updates cause errors. After being prompted to download and install the three or four updates, a problem arises in that 'objects' on the Notebook page can no longer be moved. When I used the installer below, the old SmartBoard software and drivers were uninstalled and a newer version was installed in its place. Plus, the software installed was faster than the separate updates and remedied the object moving issue. Even so, this software installation takes between 20-30 minutes. I have tried this solution twice with the same good results.

This install will also add the 'Gallery Essentials', the multitude of graphics that were specifically designed and added for educators, and should be a component of the Notebook software. This Gallery was not a part of the SmartBoard Notebook software that DOTS loaded on the newest teacher laptops, but this installation will rectify the problem.

• Toward the end of the installaton, choose to 'Activate'  and 'Launch' the program

Getting a Product key for the Notebook software

• If you obtain this key prior to installation, you can then plug it in during the installation and the software becomes a permanent install rather than a trial version
• Click here to go to the Smarttech.com page where you enter your SmartBoard serial number to get product key code. It will be sent via email. This will allow you to install and use Notebook at home
