How to Make
a Shortcut to an Application on Your Desktop
Tony Mitchell August 2005
- Go to the Start menu, to All Programs,
then to the Program or Application you want to use, such as Microsoft Word
- Hover over the launch icon, rather
than click on it to start the program
- Right-click on the launch icon to make
a popup menu appear
- From the popup menu choose, Send to,
and then Desktop
- Move the mouse away from the menus and
to the desktop to close the pop-ups
- You should now see a shortcut for the
application you chose
- Shortcuts are identified by a small
arrow in the corner of the icon
- Now to launch the program
(application), double click on the shortcut on the desktop rather than
using the Start menu
