Setting Up and Aligning Type Sets

Setting Up a Type Set

To access the component in InteGrade that allows you to setup Type Sets, go to the Setup menu and choose Grade Rules. Then click on the last tab on the right, Type Sets

Type Sets are your grading rules. In other words, a type set is the grading system you use to grade. Some teachers grade everything the same, without weighting anything. Other teachers weight tests more than homework. Still other teachers weight one class differently than another, while others do weight classes, but they weight them all the same.

If you count every grade with equal value, a type set has already been setup for you, call Not Weighted, and you can now skip to the step below entitled Aligning Type Sets with Classes.

If you do weight grades, but you weight all of you classes (Science, math, reading) the same way, say Tests 34%, Homework 33%, and Classwork 33%, then you will only need one type set, and it has already been created for you. It is called Weighted. However, although it has already been created for you, you must plug in the percentages you use into the corresponding Set. To create a new Set (like test, homework, projects, etc.), click on the New set button in the bottom right-hand side of the Type Set window.

You may need several Type Sets because you grade each subject with a different weighting system. That is perfectly acceptable, but you must create a Type Set for each subject, putting a percentage in each Set as needed. One example: the Type might be called Social Studies, with tests receiving 50% and projects receiving 50%.

We will demonstrate this during training.
