How to Add an Attachment to an Outlook Express Email

Many people want to send a picture or other document along with their email. Below are the steps for doing so with Outlook Express

  • Create your email as normal (directions)
  • Find and click on the paper-clip icon in the shortcut bar at the top of the page
  • Navigate to the picture file (or other document) and select it (one click)
  • With the picture selected, click the Attach button
  • The name of the file should appear in your email, beneath the subject box, next to the word Attach

Important Note: If you try to send a file that is very large, such as a music file (.wav) or a normal uncompressed computer picture file (.bmp), it could take a long time and your receiver may not have room in his server inbox to receive it. Many online services, such as Hotmail, won't accept files larger than 1 MB.
